We wanted to test out a train ride to the Yokohoma area so we decided to take the boys to Nogeyama Zoo. It is a smaller zoo and is free to enter, but it was the perfect size for our boys and they seemed to enjoy themselves. I think this was actually Jonathan’s first zoo experience! It was about a one hour train ride and a short walk from the station to the zoo.
Many of the larger animals seemed to be in their cage areas so they were harder to see, but the various reptiles, birds, and monkeys were very active. Oh, and the peacock, he sure was putting on a show! You can see in the pictures that Jonathan was super excited.
We stopped at their café for lunch (got some takoyaki and curry) and ice cream before leaving.
Instead of going back to the train we decided to take a 30 minute walk into Yokohama to visit the Pokémon center! It’s on the 8th floor of a mall right by the train station. Cool shopping experience with everything Pokémon!
We went home via the Yokohama station, the largest station we have been to so far, had lots of different platforms and trains. It had the potential to be really confusing, but google maps is awesome, even with the train schedules. Our only issue at the train we have had so far is that sometimes it’s hard to locate the elevator for the stroller (I think they intentionally hide them -_-).
Jeffrey fell asleep again…
There is a lot more to explore in Yokohama, so we will be returning!
