We haven’t been up to much these past few weeks because of covid restrictions and we are still waiting for a house. Base covid numbers have been trending down so hopefully restrictions will be lightened soon! We did get our driver’s licenses though, so once we get a house we will be able to get a car. That will help with our ability to explore as well. We are still in our little apartment hotel so I’ll share some of our pics from what our daily life has been lately.
Lots of playtime with the boys. They really enjoyed the roads I made with a cardboard box we found in the trash room downstairs lol. Found out Jeffrey really enjoys coloring with markers (not so much crayons) and painting. Of course it’s a plus when he gets some stickers too. I also ordered some school books for Jeffrey and it’s amazing how much he has been enjoying those…like his mama, the math one is his favorite. Jonathan continues to be a cutie, dancing and destroying seem to be his favorite things. I call him my little sour patch kid. (From these photos, you’d think all I ever do around here is nap. Well, I guess that’s not too far from the truth.)
I can’t get enough of his dancing!
We are still doing takeout for dinners so we don’t need that much, but we still do some grocery shopping. Since we don’t have a car yet, when we go grocery shopping we walk to the store and we fit what we can in the stroller. It works out because we usually stop at a park at some point during the trip. Lots of parks in our area to enjoy. Looking forward to some warmer weather for a couple reasons. 1. These parks look like they will be even more beautiful in the spring and 2. it will be nice not to bundle the boys up every time we have to leave!
Since we have been staying in this apartment hotel a lot longer than originally anticipated, I took some pics for our memories. It’s a two bedroom with a office space we use for Jonathan’s room. It has a kitchen, dining/living room, a toilet room, wash room/laundry room, and a shower/bath room. It’s tight for us, but big enough that we aren’t going insane.
The trash system is different, they separate their trash into 4 different categories for recycling purposes. Not too difficult to get used to after doing it for a bit.
Their shower/bath room is all in one and the way the Japanese shower and bathe is neat and set up to conserve water. Our tub seems pretty luxurious though. Honestly, I’ve probably taken more baths in the last month than I have in the past 20 years. You can set the temperature and water level and it will fill up automatically and it will sing a song through a speaker in the kitchen to let you know when it’s ready. You can even reheat the water to the perfect temperature! Needless to say…we are really enjoying the bath.
One thing we haven’t quite figured out yet is their doorbell/call box. We got a call on it once and it seemed like someone was waiting outside to get into the building…instead of talking to them or letting them in, we accidently pressed the emergency button! It started blinking red with exclamation marks and it said something in Japanese…we had no idea what to do. A little later the box did a little jingle and it said something in Japanese…we had no idea what. Then an hour later, the hotel staff showed up with a Japanese police officer…we were pretty embarrassed…they were really nice about it though. Later we were thinking that an hour long was kind of a long response time…turns out the jingle and the Japanese sentence was actually the doorbell. So someone did try to respond earlier…we just had completely ignored it…sigh…
That’s about all for today!
