The second weekend we had with Abuelo and Gram we went to Tokyo! We started our adventure on a Friday afternoon and Abuelo and Gram were champs traveling on the crowded train, luggage and all. We stayed at the New Sanno Hotel which is an American-run hotel, so it was very American tourist friendly and great for larger groups (6 is large in Japan). We got there around dinner time and tried their Emporium restaurant. It was a delight with their tasty prime rib special and American BBQ (which we don’t get much here). Oh you know we stuffed ourselves!
The first day we did the hotel breakfast and made our way to Odaiba for a nice walk through a park where we could see the Fuji Television Network Building, the Unicorn Gundam Statue, and the Odaiba Statue of Liberty. The bridge you see behind the Statue of Liberty is the Rainbow Bridge!
We ended our walk at Odaiba Seaside Park at the pier where we waited for a cruise ride! This was a new way to travel through Tokyo for us. We took the boat from Odaiba up to Asakusa. The boat looked kind of futuristic and it was so fun to go under all the bridges. Definitely a different way to see the city!
At Asakusa we went to the notable Sensoji Temple and made sure to stop for some snacks!
After visiting Sensoji we walked to the Tokyo Skytree. Thankful we had a beautiful day for the walks and the views!
We were pretty wiped after this very full day so it was time to head back to the hotel for dinner and rest. We have another 2 days in Tokyo to share, but I’ll stop this one here. More to come!
