Every good move has to start with the same thing: actually moving. I’m no stranger to packing up and heading somewhere else; until buying our house in 2016, I’d moved every year since 2007. But now that we’ve settled down and have a couple of kiddos, we have a lot more stuff, not to mention the fact that we have to ship it about 7,000 miles. Luckily, we had some pretty good moving companies pack our stuff, so most of our work involved just categorizing and sorting to help out the movers (I did the all the sorting, Taylor did the heavy lifting and trips to Goodwill). All things considered, it was a much easier week than we had anticipated.
All in all we had three different moving companies take three different shipments over the coarse of a week. We’ve got a bunch of stuff we won’t need in Japan stored in the States, and two shipments off to Japan. Hopefully we’ll get them sooner rather than later. Staying in a hotel room with two kids will probably get old fast.
The weather was pretty nice during weeks prior, so we were able to entertain the kids with some walks and bubble blowing sessions on the back porch. If you look closely, you’ll notice Jeffrey’s preferred fashion choice of only having one sock on. (These photos are totally from Thanksgiving…the week before our movers came…lol)
By the end of the week we had no furniture, so our living room nook turned into our dining room table. Jonathan’s high chair top came off and sat nicely in the corner. That’s Jonathan’s eating face by the way.
