Pokémon popularity in the States is nothing compared to Japan. Pokémon are BIG here. Murals, statues, theme parks, cafes, retail stores, you name it, they have it here (even Pokémon manhole covers). We like Pokémon too and wanted to check out the Pokémon Café in Tokyo. We heard that it’s super cute and definitely worth a visit. We hopped on the train and headed up to Tokyo for a little day trip.
After walking around looking for the entrance for a bit, we found the Cafe. The entrance was really cool, with these extremely well done murals along the walls.
The Café was super nice inside. It was very well decorated and the staff were friendly and dressed up. We got there pretty early and it was almost empty. By the time we left though, it was getting pretty crowded.
We started off with some lattes. You could get literally any of the original generation of Pokémon in your latte. Not sure how they did it, but it looked really good. We played it safe and went for some of our favorite Pokémon.
The menu was pretty limited so it was easy to pick a meal. I think they rotate it frequently, probably to get those return guests. Luckily the food didn’t take too long because the kiddos were getting pretty hungry.
Jeffrey and I picked the Snorlax meal, Jackie got the Eevee, and Jon Jon got the Pikachu. They were incredible looking. So detailed, and just about everything was edible. Our Snorlax meals came with a grass place mat for him to sleep on, and all the food was really good.
The side effect of cute Pokémon food is how disturbing looks as you’re eating it.
We had to get a dessert as well since they all looked so good. We settled on a chocolate parfait, and it was delicious.
Jonathan is ready for some dessert!
Overall it was a fun experience, but it was super pricey. That’s to be expected at these themed cafes in Japan, but we probably won’t ever go back (Unless you want to go when you visit us, then of course we would go with you!). A good one and done trip in Tokyo.
A Pokémon Center was next door to the café so we checked it out and picked up a few gifts. These stores are always fun to check out for a bit because they are always really well designed. The insane amount of Pokémon stuff to look at is also entertaining.
Before heading back home, Jackie wanted to check out Tokyo Station which was really close by. It has some really cool architecture and we had some time so we headed out. After walking ten minutes or so in the wrong direction (sorry Jackie!) we got to the station. I’ll have to go back some time to check out the Ramen street that is under the station, because we were pretty full at the time.
Across from the station is the entrance to the Imperial Gardens
I noticed that there was also a Godzilla statue nearby and had to go check it out. It was……smaller than I thought it would be. Very detailed, and very small. Oh well, there are other statues to discover in the future.
This Godzilla would have a hard time destroying Tokyo.
After the tiny Godzilla, it was time to head on back home. Successful trip!
